Why Did You Decide to Become a Dentist?
Starting in high school, Dr. Karpman knew that dentistry was the career for her. She had always loved to build relationships with people and wanted to be able to provide healthcare to those in need. Dentistry naturally combines her love for science, patient care, and art. She also really likes working with her hands, and dentistry allows her to do so on a daily basis. In her eyes, she could not have chosen a better career, and she is grateful for the ability to serve Rocky Hill one smile at a time.
Where Did You Study Dentistry?
Dr. Karpman graduated from the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine, and this was followed by a one-year residency at Danbury Hospital. This program enabled her to complete advanced training in many different aspects of dentistry, including restorative dentistry, periodontics, prosthodontics, implant dentistry, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry. She got to work directly with various specialists in her field and learned to treat complex cases. She even completed rotations in Anesthesia, Internal Medicine, and Emergency Medicine. Since finishing her residency, she has continued her education by taking a variety of courses, including ones focused on Invisalign, CEREC, and more. Today, she is a member of the following dental organizations:
- American Dental Association
- Connecticut State Dental Association
- Academy of General Dentistry
Outside of the Dental Office, What Do You Like to Do?
Dr. Karpman and her husband Dave are outdoor enthusiasts and love taking trips to national parks with their wonderful little boy, Lucas. To date, they have been to Yosemite, Yellowstone, Acadia, Denali, and look forward to exploring several more! In the summer, you’ll find the family spending their holidays and weekends on Lake George, and when the weather cools, they like to travel to Vermont and ski on their favorite mountain, Okemo. Dr. Karpman also likes to spend her free time walking her dog, Cooper, grilling, and gardening. She is an avid baker, so be sure to ask her about new recipes the next time you come to see us. Her parents are originally from Moscow, so she is fluent in Russian as well as English!
