Lie #1: I Floss Every Day<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Admitting you don\u2019t floss is hard, so you may want to lie about your lack of flossing habit. However, telling this fib won\u2019t do you much good; dentists will know whether you floss every day regardless.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A dental checkup often reveals whether you floss every day. As the dentist looks at your mouth, they\u2019ll see if you have plaque below the gumlines, if your gums are swollen and red, etc. These signs clearly indicate that you don\u2019t floss very often, meaning a lie would be quickly exposed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lie #2: I Don\u2019t Drink Soda<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

You shouldn\u2019t pretend you don\u2019t drink soda to a dentist. In most cases, they\u2019ll quickly know if you\u2019re lying.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lie #3: I\u2019m Not in Pain<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The truth is that dentists can \u201cread\u201d your body for signs of pain. In particular, they may notice your body flinch or tense up as they work on your smile. It\u2019d also be easy for a dentist to see your eyes clench shut from aches and pains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lie #4: I Don\u2019t Grind My Teeth<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

If you unknowingly grind your teeth at night, you may lie to your dentist by accident and claim you don\u2019t. Even so, they\u2019ll likely know you aren\u2019t being truthful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

People who grind their teeth a lot have certain symptoms. For example, they have worn-looking pearly whites, frequent headaches, muscle pain around their jaws, and so on.
